Open all year except statutory holidays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Group DaycareDaycare for Surrey, BC - Our Daycare Supervisor, Arceli Llanes, has been lovingly satisfying the needs of our little ones since 1993! While the daycare staff are not all trained in the Montessori method, and the daycare does not include all the learning materials, the philosophy of encouraging independence, grace and courtesy and curiosity, all in a loving and comfortable atmosphere, is consistent with the Montessori classrooms. Many of the daycare children spend half their day, either the morning or the afternoon, in a Primary Montessori classroom, and the rest of the day in the daycare setting. The daycare program includes
" The daycare staff are exceptional!! My children often do not want to come home with me at the end of the day as the daycare environment is fun and fulfilling and the children feel well nurtured."
-A happy parent

After graduating from Aldergrove Community Secondary School, Cindy achieved her Family Child Care Certificate, Early Childhood Education Certificate, and Infancy & Special Needs Diplomas at the University of the Fraser Valley. She says working with children is always her favourite occupation and she believes children are gifts to their parents and the world, who can guide them to grow up safely, healthy, and happily. As a childcare provider her intention is to help and teach children to develop their needs and always be available to them when they need her. |

Originally from the Philippines, where she earned her B.Sc. in Elementary education, Arceli taught elementary school, with her husband, in Brunei for twelve years before coming to Canada. She froze in Winnipeg for two years, working in a daycare centre, then moved to warmer B.C., where she joined us at Roots & Wings in 1993. Arceli holds her Early Childhood Education Certificate for B.C. And in case she needed any more experience, she has raised four children of her own, now in their twenties and thirties. Our children are very much blessed by Arceli’s caring and innovative programming in our daycare centre.
Yu-Li Angel Yang was born in South Taiwan in 1973, where she completed her second year of university. She immigrated to Canada with her two brothers and a sister, in 1996. She then took the Montessori training and achieved her Early Childhood Certification from Century College, in Vancouver. The last step to her current credentials was the Infant/Toddler diploma from Burnaby College. But what probably best qualifies her for this work is having her own son, Tareq, born in 2006. Angel has worked at Roots and Wings since 2000, first with a special needs child, then for six years in the preschool and daycare. She is now very capably heading up our Infant/Toddler program.
A mainstay in our daycare since 2004, Grace is a favourite for our students and parents. Prior to joining us, she worked for five years with young children, including nanny, special needs worker, out-of-school care worker and preschool teacher. She then took time to grow her own family. She holds her B.SC in computer science, her Early Childhood Education Certification, and a Childsafe Certificate. Grace can be heard strumming the guitar as she sings with our children, or outside school time, singing in a choir or playing the piano. If you need a Filipino translator, she’s a second option to Arceli!
Ruby is another very welcome face in our daycare. Adding Mandarin to the list of languages spoken in our centre, Ruby holds her Early Childhood and Preschool Education Certificate from Jiangsu Province, China, where she taught a class of 42 preschoolers and published articles in their journal. In Canada, Ruby has taught preschool in Richmond, and has taught Mandarin to children ages 4 – 7 in Burnaby and Vancouver. We’re enjoying Ruby’s son, Kevin in our Extended Day program.
